Featured Artist: Halla Ayla

March 24, 2010 By: Matsya Siosal Category: Sacred Art

Halla is a mixed media artist and designer with a focus in fine art photography. Her work is a poetic blend of east and west and she is greatly influenced and inspired by her Islamic heritage. Its unique art, architecture and calligraphy, as well as the many facets of everyday life in the Middle East.

Since the tragic events of September 11, Halla has been moved to share her passion and appreciation for Arab and Islamic art and culture with America.

Her desire to build cultural bridges between the US and the Arab world has led her to launch a 7-part series of exhibitions in the US , entitled The Arab World Unveiled. Each of the 7 exhibitions focuses on a specific country or region of the Arab world and presents it by way of art, photography, slide shows and educational talks. Thus far, she has presented 3 of the series and is currently working on her fourth exhibition for Winter 2010, which will be on the Arab Gulf Region, mainly United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman.

Her desire is to reveal the more enchanting aspects of the region, bringing a greater humanity and dignity to the Arabs and their cultural and historical legacy.
