It’s a perfect autumn morning and golden rays of sunlight are pouring through the windows making the floorboards glow. ToBeJuiced

When it comes to juicing or smoothies it’s not an either or proposition. Each type of drink has its place depending on the benefits you seek. If you’re new to raw foods or even just trying to eat more fresh, organic goodness you’re bound to encounter the Juice vs. Smoothie debate. The Secret to More Energy: Tap the Geyser of your Gifts

I talked to a woman who had been very gifted in music, but who hadn’t pursued it as an adult. “I am afraid of failing,” she said, but as we talked further, she admitted in the quiet tones of held back truth, that she felt like a failure now. She felt tired and angry, out of sorts with her life. I don’t blame her. It takes more effort to create a life you don’t want than to create the life you crave. Read more »

No Longer Leaving Home

crystalspiderweb

Through most of my thirties, I spent my dreamtimes following cobbled streets that angled into mysterious alleyways and climbing wide stone steps that descended to destinations I never reached. In the mornings, I’d hurriedly make breakfasts and the kids’ lunches and wait for the bus to take me to the subway and then into the slab of concrete office building where I did psychological research at the University of Toronto. Through long Canadian winters with skies the color of cement, my eyes would ache for the green hills and shining rivers of Someplace Else. I never actually put such thoughts into words. I only felt them. Read more »

Joy is a powerful and magical transformer that is always flowing gracefully within us like sweet, pristine water beneath layers of bedrock. Joy allows us to move through life gracefully and with a perspective that is open enough to experience the sheer bliss of being alive, no matter how challenging the current circumstances. A mind that is grateful and positively oriented will always prevail during hardship. We think more clearly and creatively when we are positively oriented – negativity breeds negativity and keeps us entrenched in limited perspectives, like a horse with blinders on. Read more »

zafu

Yes, I know I will be more peaceful if I meditate every day.  Do I do it?  No.  I constantly struggle with getting my butt on my beautiful red satin zafu.  For heavens sake, there is so much “to do”.

So what is the ROI (yes, return on investment) to meditating?  More peace; theoretically more love, more compassion, kindness and more openness.  We all want this – at least I think we do.  There is also tons of data that it helps our health – nothing to slough off!   Read more »

Love of Frankincense for Mind Body Spirit

Frankincense-tears

Last week I found myself in one of my all time favorite cities, Santa Fe, NM on a magical, mystery ride. I was finally getting to study with a master distiller of essential oils, one whom I have been waiting for years to study with, and the time had finally come. I have been working with essential oils for 36 years, and knowing that one day I would begin my exploration of distillation in earnest. I have taken a few distillation classes over the years, but had never been inspired to start the process of distillation, not until now that is. Read more »
