Born in England in 1940, Terence Yallop moved to the United States in 1975 and Yallop became a member of the faculty of the fledgling California Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and for several years there and in the Bay Area he gave classes in t’ai chi and Taoist philosophy. Yallop was aware that the time was ripe for a new kind of music to emerge and began to make connections with the talented musicians he perceived were creating the best of it. Out of a desire to share this exciting new music with as many people as possible, he began promoting concerts for now internationally prominent artists that included Kitaro, Yanni and Andreas Vollenweider, who heralded the new genre. To name a few of mine: hang gliding; raising German Shepherd puppies or maybe golden labs; living in an artists’ commune in Italy; living alone in a cottage in Maui where I leave footprints in the sand every morning before I settle down to write Something Meaningful; Read more »

Life Can Be Fantastic: Your Joy is Your Power

September 10, 2010 By: Tama J. Kieves Category: Conscious Livelihood, Living with Intention, Mind Body Spirit

Grass_of_Happiness-th

I am committed to allowing myself to receive more freaking goodness than I can imagine. To start with, I am going to know that, independent of anyone else’s predictions or convictions, my life can be fantastic. I am going to stop calling negativity and limitation “realism.” I’m going to just start calling them negativity and limitation. We have all bought into the superstition that goodness is a soap bubble about to burst. But I challenge you to think of sadness and strain as a bubble, too, a bubble that can burst as easily. It all depends on where you put your focus, what you call real, which altar you light your candles on. Read more »

The 5 Pillars of Awakening

The perennial spiritual invitation that has been given us by every sage and tradition east and west is this: surrender and open through absolutely everything – no matter how it appears. We are told that this is the sacred route from the shell of our ego structure to the depths of our divine nature that is naturally infinite in peace, love and fulfillment. Although this is a very direct and simple invitation, it can feel very challenging, since the ego shell can feel very dense. Furthermore, such spiritual invitations often ask us to let go of everything we thought was fixed and real, including our known sense of self.  Read more »

September 01, 2010 By: Sherry Ruth Anderson Category: Aging With Grace and Glory, Sherry Anderson

sherrygrandparents-th

Today is the first day of winter, with a pale sun barely seeping through the damp air. I’m sitting stubbornly on the back deck wrapped in my heaviest sweater, trying to write about what it is like to be … I don’t know how to say this. A woman growing old? A woman aging? Or forget the woman part, what is it like just to be getting old now. We’re all so relatively healthy, we have so many more resources and solutions than our parents and grandparents did, and so many more expectations for ourselves. Read more »
